Articles about Entertaiment

The word entertainment is derived from the Old French entretenement, and means “an agreeable occupation for the mind or a diversion; amusement”:
As such, it is a broad concept. It encompasses a variety of different media, from the most esoteric forms of art to the daily crossword puzzle. According to Oliver and Barstsch (2010), entertainment is characterized by six elements: objectivity, communication between text and audience from external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience, and occurs in a passive form. It is therefore a very flexible concept, with familiar forms able to move easily between different media.
